Joseph Bou-Younes

Joseph is a tech executive with a deep technical background. His passion is leading organizations to quickly build well-designed products that solve complex problems for big markets. He is currently Data Executive in Residence at Communitech and Canada's Open Data Exchange. He is also advisor to Navi (usenavi.com), which uses AI to help publishers improve retention of mobile users.

Joseph has a long experience of working with startups and enterprises in defining and developing data-driven consumer products that incorporated ML as early as 2005.

More recently, Joseph was Vice President of Product at 500px, a photography community and marketplace that successfully closed a $13MM Series B in the summer of 2015. Joseph has also held management, and product management roles at Yahoo (in Sunnyvale, CA) and consulted extensively on product management, strategy, and optimization in Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

He has a deep Computer Science background and hands-on experience developing software using a range of technologies. He lives in Waterloo Region with his family and spends his time with his family, snowboarding, running, and tinkering with computers.
